Date Night Wheel Throwing / One Time Clay Play
$100.00

Curious about pottery but not ready to commit to a full course? Our Date Night Wheel Throwing class in Victoria, BC is a relaxed one-time pottery experience for couples, friends, family, or anyone who simply wants to try the pottery wheel for the first time.

During this guided class, your instructor will introduce you to the fundamentals of wheel throwing, from centering the clay to opening and shaping your first vessel. No previous pottery experience is needed — we’ll demonstrate each step and help you along the way when the clay inevitably decides to have a mind of its own.

Each person will choose one piece to keep at the end of the class. Leave it with us and our studio team will take care of the remaining process, including trimming, glazing with our studio clear glaze, and kiln firing. Your finished pottery will generally be ready for pickup in approximately 1–2 months, and we’ll let you know when it’s ready to come home.

All clay, pottery tools, instruction, glazing, and firing for one finished piece per person are included.

Despite the name, you definitely don’t need a date to join us. Come solo, bring your partner, best friend, parent, or someone you think would look cute covered in clay. Each spot is sold individually, so please make sure everyone attending has their own booking.

If you fall in love with the wheel and want to learn more after your first class, our 6-week beginner wheel throwing course is the next step for building your skills and learning more of the pottery process.

No experience required. Classes are for ages 16 and above.

"I am a Beginner!": Level 1 Wheel Throwing Class
$399.00

There’s something magical about turning a shapeless lump of clay into something you can actually use every day. Our 6-week beginner wheel throwing course in Victoria, BC is designed for complete beginners who want to properly learn pottery, not just try the wheel once.

Starting from the very beginning, we’ll guide you through the full pottery process, including wedging, centering, throwing, trimming, making cups, bowls and plates, and glazing your own work. You’ll learn why things work, what to do when they don’t, and have plenty of time to practise along the way. We’ll make some good pots, probably make some questionable ones, learn from both, and keep going.

This course focuses on quality over quantity. By the end of the six weeks, you’ll select three pieces you’re genuinely proud of to glaze and fire — functional tableware made completely by you and impossible to buy anywhere else.

Our beginner wheel classes are intentionally capped at just 6 students, giving your instructor time to demonstrate techniques clearly while still providing individual attention when you need help. No previous pottery experience is required — this course is specifically designed to give you a strong foundation from the beginning.

All clay, pottery tools, materials, glazing, and firing for your three finished pieces are included. Your pottery will be ready for pickup approximately 1–2 months after the course, once everything has been completely dried, glazed, and fired.

Finished the course and caught the pottery bug? From here, you can continue into our Level 2 wheel throwing course, book extra drop-in practice time, or eventually move into a TOUCI studio membership as you become more independent.

No experience required. Classes are for ages 16 and above.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Cancellation requests must be made by email at least two weeks before the first class. Cancellations made within 14 days of the course start date are not eligible for a refund or transfer.

If you need to reschedule an individual class, please email us at least 48 hours before your scheduled class. Rescheduling is subject to a $30 administration fee per person and availability. If a private make-up lesson is required, an additional $85 fee per person applies. We recommend checking all eight course dates carefully before booking.

If TOUCI needs to cancel the course due to insufficient enrolment, we’ll contact you approximately one week before the first class with the available options.

"I am a Beginner!": Level 2 Wheel Throwing Class
$499.00

Ready to move beyond the basics? Our 8-week Level 2 wheel throwing course at TOUCI Ceramic Studio in Victoria, BC is designed for potters who already have a foundation on the wheel and want to build more confidence, consistency, and control.

You don’t need to have taken Level 1 at TOUCI to join us. If you can comfortably centre approximately 700g of clay and have previous wheel-throwing experience, you’re ready to start exploring what comes next.

Throughout the course, we’ll build on your existing pottery skills, troubleshoot habits that may be holding you back, and work toward throwing larger, faster, and with greater precision. You’ll explore more advanced wheel-throwing techniques and forms while developing a better understanding of proportion, consistency, and your own making process. There’s also more room in Level 2 to bring your own ideas and projects to the wheel.

This class is intentionally capped at 8 students, creating a more independent studio environment while still giving you access to plenty of instructor guidance. You’ll be learning alongside other potters at a similar stage, with time to practise, experiment, make mistakes, and develop your own approach.

The course includes all clay, studio tools, materials, glazing, and firing for 5 finished pieces. We continue to focus on quality over quantity — choose the work you’re genuinely proud of and take those pieces through the full ceramic process. Additional pieces can be fired for $30 each, which covers glazing, materials, handling, and kiln space.

Your finished pottery will generally be ready for pickup approximately 1–2 months after the course.

After Level 2, you may be ready to continue developing your practice through advanced pottery classes, TOUCI drop-in studio time, membership, or one-on-one Throwing Doctor sessions for more specific technical challenges.

Previous wheel-throwing experience required. Classes are for ages 16 and above.

The FriYAY Hand Building Club — A Social Clay Club
$60.00

Clay is better with company. The FriYAY Hand Building Club at TOUCI Ceramic Studio in Victoria, BC is our monthly social clay night — a relaxed Friday evening to make something with your hands, meet other creative people, and spend a few hours away from your usual routine. Let’s and yep.

Held on the third Friday of every month, FriYAY is somewhere between a pottery workshop and a social club. There’s no set project and no step-by-step lesson. Bring an idea you’ve been wanting to make, get inspired by what everyone else is working on, or come with no idea at all and figure it out once you’re here.

An instructor will be around throughout the evening to offer guidance, troubleshoot your project, and introduce hand-building pottery techniques such as slab building, coiling, pinch pots, joining, and surface decoration when you need them. But this isn’t a formal pottery class — the idea is to have space to explore, experiment, chat, and make at your own pace.

Each 3-hour FriYAY session includes 1 kg of clay, studio tools, workspace, and instructor guidance. We keep the group to a maximum of 15 people, small enough to get to know each other while still having plenty of room to make.

Come by yourself or bring a friend. You don’t need to know anyone, and you don’t need previous pottery experience. Pick a month that works for you, come occasionally when you need a creative night out, or make FriYAY your monthly clay ritual.

Need more time to finish your project? You can continue working during eligible TOUCI drop-in studio hours. Unfinished projects can be stored for up to three weeks before they are cleared, unless you’ve made arrangements with our team in advance.

Glazing and firing are not included in the club fee. Since everyone makes different sizes and amounts of work, firing is charged separately according to our current studio firing rates.

FriYAY is for ages 16 and above.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

Bookings cancelled at least 14 days before the session are eligible for a refund, subject to a $35 administration fee per person. Bookings are non-refundable within 14 days of the session.

If you’d like to move your booking to another FriYAY date, please email us at least one week in advance. Transfers are subject to availability and a $35 administration fee per person.

You’ll receive an instant confirmation after booking, followed by a welcome email with workshop details approximately one week before your session.

Have questions before booking? Visit our Pottery Class FAQ for information about classes, experience levels, finished pieces, rescheduling, studio access, parking, and more. $0.00

Interested in joining The Throwing Club at TOUCI Ceramic Studio? Start with a free studio tour and membership orientation.
